Week of the bedside table

Learning a new skill

This project week was conducted as part of the Co-Design Studio minor. The goal? Developing a new skill I was always interested in learning but never had the time. The skill I chose to learn was creating polymer earrings from scratch. This project showed me to think outside the box in a field I am normally not familiar with. I am very proud of the outcome and want to make further progress in this skill.

International week – Oslo

Gathering international insights

During our International Week, we traveled to Oslo to explore the different culture and design approaches. Our task was to engage with the local community and develop a concept that could either support it or offer insights to bring home.

As part of this week, I created a city-wide art exhibition using sculptures made from old phones donated by locals, displayed on tables built from Norwegian wood which symbolizes the country’s deep-rooted connection to nature. When picked up, each phone would randomly connect to another, encouraging spontaneous interaction between strangers. This aimed to spark meaningful conversations in a society often described as more reserved.

This international experience was especially valuable to me as it deepened my awareness of how cultural attitudes shape social behavior and reminded me how important it is as a designer to stay sensitive to these nuances.

Social Media Communication

During the second half of the semester, I took on the responsibility of managing Co-Design Studio’s social media presence on Instagram and LinkedIn. I created and posted content ranging from behind-the-scenes stories of our Oslo trip to updates on signature projects and invitations to our final expositions.

My tasks included photography, editing, and designing digital assets such as reels and stories. This role allowed me to refresh and expand my skills in social media content creation and management – bringing me back up to speed after a few years away from the marketing field.
